 .  .  .

Join us for a walk. Be inspired. 8:00 AM Saturday morning. Can you imagine!

It is a beautiful time of day to walk.

Please scroll down to view walk info

The Lively Dragon participants are lead by "Shirley" or one of the other group leaders. Every weekend it is a different location in the Hamilton / Burlington area. There are many beautiful places to see that are ours to discover.

The walks are usually 10 km on excellent trails, parts of the Bruce Trail and others in the area.

A walking pole could be helpful..  Water is important even in colder weather.  Please stay hydrated.   Hiking is amazing and refreshing.  .

If you have questions about winter hiking email livelydragonclub@gmail.com me your question and I will try to answer it.

 Chedoke Rail Trail
You'll be meeting/parking on Hillcrest Ave, at the base of the Chedoke Rail
Trail. From Aberdeen Ave (not far from  Dundurn), take either Beulah or
Mountain Ave up  to Hillcrest (see the attached map). From there you get on
the trail and walk straight up to the pedestrian bridge that goes over the
403 - about 5 km. Turn around and start heading back down. On your way up,
you will have passed the entrance to the Iroquois Trail. On your way back
down, deviate to your left and take that trail for a change of scenery -
keep following the trail, close to the escarpment, it eventually connects
back in with the original rail trail that you came up on. Breakfast?
Remember 'Your Place'? You know, the one with the leaky window...it's now a
Wimpy's...you could always give that a try. Or maybe head over to our 'ole
time favourite, The Maple Leaf....take a group vote before you set out on
the walk. This walk will probably take you less than the usual 2 1/2 hours -
and it's 'do-able' for those who are visually impaired.

 University Plaza/Monarch Trail

Monarch Trail. You’ll be meeting at the very back of University Plaza (Osler Rd, see the attached map), behind the Shoppers Drug Mart. From there the group will decide whether they want to walk the H-B rail trail first or get on the Monarch trail. You need to allow 2 1/2 hours for this walk as well as time for breakfast at The Maple Leaf Pancake House. This walk is perfectly do-able for those with impaired vision.
